So many times i have heard of mothers wanting to /giving in relaxing their kids natural hair. I do understand why. Because natural hair is not that easy. It tangles, it gets matted, it needs a lot of care. A lot of times, after a day of work, you don’t want to sit down and get to moisturize your kids hair. You still have to look after the homework, cook, get the laundry done and so on and so on…/ Tellement de fois j’ai entendu des mamans qui voulaient / avaient défrisé les cheveux naturels de leur enfant.
But i have come to understand that natural hair is the best state of our hair. Because it is the way it is supposed to be. A kid should be left the choice wether they want their hair to be altered for a very long amount of years. They should be told that relaxing will change the way their natural hair looks / Mais j’ai réalisé que les cheveux naturels sont le meilleur état dans lequel nos cheveux peuvent être.
I think that when i was 16, if i was not seeing all of the women around me with long straight relaxed hair, it wouldn’t have been THE thing to do, THE way my hair was meant to be. I am glad so many women out in the world are showing us that natural hair IS easy, is gorgeous and so versatile. Don’t get me wrong, i am hoping one day i will be one of these women, so my daughter can totally relate. But for the moment i’m not ready, my next appointment for my relaxer is scheduled. For the moment, i have her watch videos of natural women/girls, pictures of natural hairstyles etc… I help her learn to love her hair, handle her own hair, style it.
Now tell me my loves, what do you think. Thanks for stopping by / Maintenant dites moi my loves ce que vous en pensez. Merci d’être passés me lire.
I think your doing a wonderful thing with your daughter. I wish I had been taught how to properly care for my hair as a child.
Thank you so so much !!! I really wish i was taught properly, i think the HJ would have been completely different hahaha

Great post Nunaa! 1st a round of applause for Mini Me’s hair, you’ve done an excellent job with the length retention, FABULEUX! I agree with you, children should be encouraged on all the positives of natural hair and then when they’re older like “High School on their way to college older” and they want the relaxer it’s on them! I’m not a mom so I don’t have the time issues as far as another head to moisturize on top of house chores so I can understand why moms would wanna lighten the hair load! But like you have learned, natural hair once you understand it, is not hard to handle at all, it just takes a little more time and patience! I find that taking care of my natural hair is a joy to care for and I’ve been natural for almost 10 years now but just now (well the past almost 3 years) have discovered the ease of caring for natural hair! Not everyone will feel this way of course BUT there’s a whole heck of a lot of people who do! I’m with you relaxed or natural Nunaa…I’m all excited for your new relaxer because I know your hair is gonna look FABULOUS!! Of course I on this natural course for life “haha” but I have learned so much from your videos and I will never forget your help, kindness and just straight up motivation! That’s why in a lot of my comments to hair videos I say “thanks to the women of YouTube” NOT just “naturals” When I started my journey it actually was started off of the information that people such as yourself and Shimahair21, shorty2sweet and kikicouture10 were supplying…I don’t even remember how I stumbled onto the natural hair community, I guess it was inevitable, 1 video leads to another in this world of healthy black hair care! Well thanks again for sharing and I’ll talk to you soon my friend! 🙂
